Dealing with a weight problem has been a life-long battle for me. I had success with NutriSystem at age 14, gained it back, and since then have succeeded and failed at dozens of diets, plans and pills that the general population have tried right alongside with me…

I found out the FDA had just lowered the Body Mass Index (BMI) requirements for the Lap Band which meant that I could be a candidate if I was just 8 pounds heavier. Since I had never been this weight before, I never was even close to being a candidate…but now I was! I thought I’d hit the jackpot! My husband and I went to the required seminar for the Lap Band procedure and became educated on the surgery and life with the Lap Band. I have to admit, while I was sitting there listening to all of the Don’ts and Cant’s regarding foods, liquids and portions, I didn’t like a lot of the things I was hearing. It didn’t matter because what we also found out was that yes, the FDA did lower the requirement for the Lap Band and I would be a candidate, but the insurances weren’t recognizing the new BMI number and therefore wouldn’t pay for the procedure. My heart sank, I was fighting back tears…AND now I was 8 pounds heavier with no solution…

Knowing that I needed to find something local to help with my weight-loss and health, my husband got on-line and started searching for some options for me. He told me about the Training Spot gym and a program that sounded promising. I had nothing to lose so after he left for work, I sat at the computer and looked up the gym and started exploring. I read about the Balanced Habits KICK START, the testimonies of clients, the stories behind the Training Spot gym, and other services the gym offered. I couldn’t believe that a new “KICK START” was going to start in just two weeks…and was right in my backyard. I thought to myself, “I’m going to try and win this thing!” My original goal was to lose an ambitious 20 pounds, attend the weekly KICK START boot camps, and workout 2-4 additional times weekly on my own. That was my goal, but in actuality I did the weekly boot camps and simply walked 1-2 times more a week…

The food was off the charts amazing, and I even stayed on track during family celebrations and served it to my extended family at a birthday celebration dinner. Everyone raved about the Tri-Tip Fajitas that night! The program seemed to be truly working. After week one, I lost 9 ½ pounds. After week two, 4 ½ more pounds. After week three, I lost an additional 3 pounds, and after week four, I lost 6 more pounds for a total of 23 pounds lost…in just 28 days. I didn’t have to become a tri-athlete, or get up at 5 am to go running uphill in the rain, or bench press a trainer three times a day. I just had to give Balanced Habits KICK START a chance, do my best, and learn from the experience…
