This ONE choice kills twice as many as obesity. Hint: It’s not smoking or drinking…

No, I’m not talking about smoking, drinking, using drugs or texting and driving.

It has nothing to do with those kind of abusive behaviors, but it is responsible for twice as many early deaths as obesity.

In fact, according to an interesting new European study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 676,000 of our European neighbors died from this cause of death, whereas 337,000 died from obesity.

What murdered more than twice the men and women as obesity?

More importantly, what ONE natural lifestyle change could ultimately reverse this epidemic, and provide substantial health benefits?

Burning 100 extra calories per day.

That’s it. That’s all it takes.

If you are an inactive person, doing no physical exercise, merely adopting a 20-minute walk is the equivalent to burning 100 calories.

Do that every day, and you’ll reduce your chance of early death by 25%.

Quoting from the study:

“Physical inactivity may theoretically be responsible for twice as many total deaths as high BMI [obesity] in this population, similar to the number of deaths averted if abdominal adiposity [fat] were eliminated.”

Interpretation: Being sedentary doubles your chance, making it literally twice as likely you’ll die as those who are obese, but somewhat active.

It all reminds me of the doctor rumored to say, “If you are going to smoke, exercise. If you are going to drink heavily, exercise. If you are going to partake in any risky behavior, exercise.”

In other words, exercise should be at the top of your list of things to do.
